Managing Stress

It’s not about avoiding the things that cause pressure, anxiety and stress. It’s about knowing how to face and deal with them confidently. The secret to effective stress management is learning to control the reactions to stress and to have in place some strategies for managing your work and home life.

Consider everything that is going on for you right now. Are many things going on for you, are you managing really well or is there room for improvement? Are you feeling run down, never getting on top of things, or have you found a comfortable balance?

Next, reflect on how you are supporting yourself. Where are you getting the stamina to be able to maintain your current activities? Do you have the vitality and energy to think clearly and be decisive? Is this an area of your life that needs some attention?

Remember that stress can occur when there is an imbalance between everything you are doing and how you are supporting yourself?

Through the practices of relaxation, yoga, exercise and mindfulness you gain energy, eliminate tension, can learn how to wind down, overcome anxiety and depression, gain mental strength and cultivate an overall sense of calmness and steadiness.
