Healthy Tips
Your body and mind are the instruments that you use to experience the world:
- Yoga breathing cultivates relaxation. Take a slow
breath in through your nostrils and feel the air coming in. Count
slowly to five as you do this. Now exhale through your nostrils and
slowly count to five. Do this at least 5 times. You can do it for
up to 10 mins.
- Tense your whole body, yes even the face, feel that
firm tension, then relax the whole body at the same time. Feel the
difference. Try this again.
- Inhale and take your shoulders up to your ears, hold
for a moment, then exhale, let your shoulders drop down away from
your ears. Repeat this 5 times.
- Close your eyes and imagine something that you find
relaxing and calming, for example the ocean. With your eyes closed
and your body comfortable, watch the image or scene and at the same
time feel yourself breathing slowly.
- Take the time to do one thing that relaxes you every day.
This might be going for a walk, having a quiet cup of tea, looking
out the window, reading or exercise.
- Become aware of your body. Take your awareness to
the top of your head and feel it softening, then your whole face,
shoulders, arms, hands, trunk, pelvis, legs and feet. Repeat this
again.
- Imagine breathing in through the soles of your feet
and take the breath right up to the top of your head. Then breathe
out, imagine the breath flowing down your whole body, washing and
cleansing your whole body. Do this as many times as you like until
you feel yourself a little more relaxed.
- Eat well. Food can be divided into three different
categories.
- Medicinal – restoring balance.
- Poison – low in energy and nutrition.
- Nutritious - full of goodness, energy and vitality. So drink water every
day, eat fresh vegetables and fruit, have a healthy intake of protein,
get the important omega 3 fatty acids. Investigate and research good
food, see a Naturopath.
- Join a yoga class, and learn techniques to relax
and unwind.
- If you are always on the go – slow down. How?
Well try taking a moment for yourself between each activity. Stop,
become still, take a slow relaxed breath, feel your body softening,
be aware of yourself in the present moment. Now continue onwards with
a greater awareness.
- Ground yourself. What grounds you? Is it walking
with bare feet, breathing into your abdomen or a steady posture? Whatever
it is, contemplate this, so you can bring yourself into a feeling
of steadiness and grounded ness. Your actions from a centred state
will be more comfortable and you will be more conscious of how you
choose to respond.
- Remember that we are all unfolding at our own natural pace.
No need to give yourself a hard time, have compassion for yourself,
you're ok, you are unfolding.
- Being Still. So much of our daily experience is full of talking and interacting.
By resting the tongue, bringing the lips together, closing our eyes
– we give ourselves a moment of spaciousness. Allow the silence
to unfold…………treasures will be revealed to you
naturally. Try this technique by introducing it gradually into your
life. Start with 1 minute a day and increase from there.
